Lux Aeterna Dance Company is an interdisciplinary dance and physical theater company, committed to the creation of an eclectic and powerful dance vocabulary through the fusion of various movement forms, such as ballet, modern, Brazilian capoeira, gymnastics, circus arts, body-to-body partnering, and most importantly, breaking (also known as break-dancing).

Artistic director and choreographer Jacob "Kujo" Lyons sheds the movement standards and limitations imposed on most choreographers by convention, and instead explores movement with a very open and fresh attack. The boundaries delineating the myriad movement styles in Lux Aeterna'™s repertoire are obliterated, and the audience is provided with a visceral and compelling visual experience that ranges from high-octane, hyper-gymnastic and electrifying, to serene, beautiful and lyrical.

Kujo and Lux Aeterna have won multiple awards for their ground-breaking choreographic work. Kujo was named "Choreographer of the Year 2008" by the Beverly Hills Outlook, and won 2008 Lester Horton Dance Awards for Best Male Dancer and Best Choreography: Short Form, all for "Metanoia." Lux Aeterna also won the 2007 Lester Horton Dance Award for Best Company Performance, for "Underwater/Beached."

Lux Aeterna regularly performs to sold-out crowds at major hip hop and contemporary dance festivals, such as the San Francisco Hip Hop Dance Fest and Celebrate Dance, and two evening-length hip hop dance/theater shows at the huge Ford Amphitheatre – Breaking the Cypher and the annual Juice Hip Hop Dance Festival, both of which Kujo also co-directed. Kujo's choreography with Lux has also been presented as part of the circus show, Cirque Montage (www.wonderworldla.com), and the live drum theater show Street Beat (www.streetbeat.biz), both of which tour nationally. Lux Aeterna's dancers were also featured in an underwater commercial in India in 2009, for Indian detergent company Nirma, also choreographed by Kujo.
